Cihan Engin was born in Ankara in 1982, graduated from Ayrancı High School and then graduated from Hacettepe University’s Fine Arts Faculty Painting Department. Between 2007 and 2009, he worked as an artist and art director at the advertising agency «United Design Studios» in Ankara. İn 2009, he opened his personal art studio and has designed illustrations and book covers for various agencies and writers. After starting to work at the «Globesis/Smsnete» game company in 2010, he turned to digital painting and designed visuals for mobile phone and tablet games.
The artist, who also assumed the art direction of game designs published on Google Play and Apple Store, continued his art life as a digital painter and created digital art works for «Ankara and Istanbul Apocalypse» theme, which attracted nationwide attention. Cihan Engin gave interviews to many national newspapers and magazines with his works «Atatürk and Turkish Epics», won the appreciation of art lovers by digitally applying figures that have not been used until now.
In addition to many art works, dedicated to important topics in his homeland, Cihan also received a lot of attention for his video work, dedicated to the horrific murder of George Floyd in America.
Cihan is the creator of unique drawings-adaptations of the world-famous works of art and sculptures, such as «Girl with a Pearl Earring», Dianne Dengel’s “Home Sweet Home”, Leonardo da Vinci’s «The Last Supper», “Cafe Terrace at Night” by Van Gogh, “The Kiss” by Gustav Klimt and many others… He has also remaked and reinterpreted Hieronymus Bosch’s insane masterpiece «The Visions of Tondal», combining the madness of the past and the present time. In addition, Mr. Engin, who loves Cyberpunk style, has painted many art adaptations, portraits in Cyberpunk style and continues to work in this style, showing countries and cities of the future, shining with neon lights and also, he shows deep themes that make viewers think about the positive and negative sides of the robotic future.
In 2023, a book dedicated to Turkic mythology is being prepared for publication in Japan, with drawings created by Cihan Engin by special order of the author.
As a multifaceted person, Cihan Engin is also the founder/guitarist of the metal band named «RavenWoods», and a Python code enthusiast.
Cihan Engin has sold many paintings to private collections around the world, including Japan, America, Mexico, etc. With the advent of new technologies, Cihan’s works are also sold in the NFT format.
